Daniel "Cotton" Franklin Turner Sr., 75, went to see his maker the morning of January 27, 2010 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mr. Turner was born September 14, 1934 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Avelina Cora Ward and Frank James Turner. Daniel attended school in Red Rock, Oklahoma and then he went to work for the City of Perry for 34 years and 8 months before retiring in Perry. He was an enrolled member of the Otoe-Missouria tribe.
He married Mary Ann Hubort on July 4, 1984 at Calvary Baptist Church in Perry.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Roger Dunn will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Daniel "Cotton" Franklin Turner, Sr. final expense fund in the care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Turner; three sons, Daniel Franklin Turner, Jr. of Pawnee, Oklahoma, James A. Turner of Okemah, Oklahoma, Joe W. Turner and his wife, Melissa, of Okemah, Oklahoma; four stepchildren, Bruce Winter of Denver, Colorado, Mary Ann Gleason of San Diego, California, Fred McLemore of Wyoming, and Monte Davis, now serving in Iraq; twelve grandchildren, James Michael Turner and his wife, Lynn, and Jamie Turner-Bender and her husband, Robert, all of Beauford, North Carolina, Elizabeth J. Turner and her husband, Jack, of Flint, Michigan, Shelby Danielle Turner of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Marcy, Tori, Sophie and Libby Turner, all of Okemah, Oklahoma, Leah Mistler and her husband, Justin, and Kara Cross, all of Perry, Oklahoma, Tonya McLemore and Shanna McLemore, both of Enid, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Kissie Williams and husband, Freddie, of Seattle, Washington, Janice Hefner and her husband, Harry, Carleeta Slavens, Wanda Blocker and her husband, Doug, Regina Sharpton and Joyce Wayman, all of Perry, Oklahoma, Gloria Turner of Washington State; two brothers, Butch Graham and his wife, Mildred, and Wesley Graham and his wife, Sherri, all of Perry, Oklahoma and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
